Looking to boost your business in 2016? Just use the Force!

Now before you assume that this is going to be another generic Star Wars post,  I promise it’s not what you think. I don’t wish to be ridiculed for my inaccuracies about the movies. I’m very much a newbie when it comes to talking anything Star Wars related.

Much to the dismay of many friends and coworkers – I only started watching the Star Wars franchise about six months ago. To be fair, it just didn’t really sound like my kind of movie – but I gave in as I curious to see what the hype was all about. So, I ended up watched them in the recommended chronological order as specified by friends, Episodes IV – VI, and then I – III. All I have left to do now is watch the latest installment which came out in December last year.

Now? I’m most definitely an avid Star Wars fan.

You’re probably wondering about now where I’m going with this.

At the conclusion of Episode VI I thought to myself, “how on earth is this new director going to take on such a massive challenge, and not disappoint the movie’s massive existing fan base?”

In other words, why fix something that already works?

While scrolling through social media leading up to the release of the new movie, I read through a multitude of fan comments saying that they were weary of the direction J.J Abrams may take the movie. After the release, I was pleased to hear the consensus was that he did a pretty good job. I can imagine it would have by no means been an easy task.

This idea can be applied to any area of business we are involved in. Sometimes when new opportunities come about, we often think “I know what I’m doing right now isn’t really the best way. But why change if we seem to be performing okay?”

In business it’s important to face change head on, and not think of it as something negative. Sometimes change can be the very thing you need to set you on the right path. The Star Wars franchise took a leap of faith in bringing on board a new director, and it paid off.

Maybe you’re looking at investing in new software for your business? Maybe you’re looking at integrating new systems to streamline your processes.

My advice? Take the leap and give it a go. It might just pay off.
